Title

A resolution authorizing the City Manager to finalize and execute agreements with Texas Department of Transportation for the sharing of Intelligent Transportation Systems Data and Traffic Video between the Department and the City for five years.

Body

Every five years, the City of Mesquite and the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) reissues an agreement to share Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Data.  The current agreement expired in 2020; however, due to COVID-19 related delays and changes in the method of dissemination of data by TXDOT, the agreement has been delayed until now.

For the City of Mesquite, the ITS data is generally limited to access live video and video messaging on State maintained highways.  While the agreement does allow access to the City’s transportation video network, TXDOT rarely, if ever accesses the City’s video.  Both the Traffic Engineering Division and the Mesquite Police Department regularly utilize the data feed from various cameras within the City of Mesquite along various state highways.

The agreement will remain in force for a period of five years.

Financial Implications

This agreement has no financial implications.
