Receive year-end presentation from the Mesquite Youth Council.

Body

The inaugural cohort of the Mesquite Youth Council was established in June 2025 and includes fifteen high school students representing public, private, and home schools. The Youth Council is dedicated to fostering civic engagement through community initiatives, advisory input to City Council, and advocacy on behalf of Mesquite’s youth, providing a platform for students to share perspectives, address issues impacting their peers, and contribute to positive change in the community.

Youth Councilmembers serve one-year terms and meet monthly.

During this year’s term, the Council participated in the following:

                     Promoted youth resources and initiatives

                     Developed leadership and problem-solving skills

A behind-the-scenes look into City departments and how local government operates

Fostered early engagement in community service and philanthropy

                     Addressed challenges impacting their peers

Provided a safe space for teens to express themselves and their ideas

Created programs that benefit the youth community

This presentation is a summary recap of their activities over the past year.
