In order to satisfy the needs of the growing community and stay current with the changing expectations of the citizens, a Parks Master Plan is needed to guide development and growth of the City’s parks and recreation services. The purpose of the plan is to evaluate the existing park system and provide guidance on new programs, facilities and services. Recommendations are based on input from the community, industry standards and comparable cities. There are several benefits to having a parks master plan including eligibility for grant funds, project and budget forecasting and community involvement. Through this process, the consultant is also prepared to provide recommendations for a park land dedication ordinance. Gathering citizen input and developing the plan is estimated to take 9-12 months and the planning horizon is approximately ten years: 2021-2031.
