Consider appointment of three Regular Members (Position Nos. 1, 3 and 5) and one Alternate Member (Alternate No. 1) to the Board of Adjustment/Airport Board of Adjustment for terms to expire December 31, 2025.
Body
Currently, the Board of Adjustment (BOA) has two vacancies for Regular Members (Position Nos. 1 and 3). Jack Akin (Position No. 5) and Kourtnie Airheart (Alternate No. 1) are eligible for reappointment and have agreed to serve another term, if appointed. All members serve alternating two-year terms with a limit of three terms.
Alternate members shall attend at least one meeting every six months.
The Board of Adjustment consists of five regular members and two alternate members appointed by the City Council. The Board is charged with the responsibility of hearing requests for variances, special exceptions and appeals from staff interpretations of the Zoning Ordinance.
Members of the Board of Adjustment also serve on the Airport Board of Adjustment, which is required under State law to address zoning regulations and specific land use issues associated with the Mesquite Metro Airport.
