Consider appointment of five Regular Members (Position Nos. 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9) to the Youth Advisory Board for terms to expire December 31, 2025, and four Regular Members (Position Nos. 2, 4, 6 and 8) for terms to expire December 31, 2026.
Body
On March 3, 2025, the City Council approved the reestablishment of a Youth Advisory Board to serve as a vital connection between the City Council, City staff, and Mesquite's youth ensuring that young residents have a voice in civic engagement and community programming.
Position Nos. 1 - 5 do not require City of Mesquite residency.
This board will:
* Serve as a liaison to the City Council and make recommendations regarding Mesquite Youth Council initiatives.
* Provide recommendations to the City Council on youth-focused programs and policies.
* Monitor and evaluate City programming related to youth and suggest enhancements.
* Act as a forum for exchanging information related to current and future Mesquite Youth Council programs.
* Update the City Council on the status of Mesquite Youth Council initiatives as needed.
