Authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute a Professional Engineering Services Contract with Dunaway Associates, LLC., for Military Parkway/Scyene Road/IH-635 Design Services in the amount of $229,000.00.
Body
This contract includes the design of geometric improvements at the intersection of Interstate Highway 635, Scyene Road, and Military Parkway that will improve the operational efficiency of the existing roadways:
1. Westbound West Scyene Road at IH 635 -- Reduce westbound lanes and convert the southbound double-right turn to a free right turn.
2. Rodeo Center Boulevard -- Remove the northbound left-turn lane between Military Parkway and West Scyene Road.
3. Rodeo Center Boulevard at Military Parkway - Remove the free northbound right turn and modify channelization beneath IH 635.
4. Southbound IH 635 Entrance Ramp - Add pavement for a northbound right turn onto the entrance ramp south of Military Parkway.
5. Rodeo Center Boulevard - Re-stripe from two northbound/three southbound lanes to two lanes each direction with a center turn lane, from Military Parkway to Neal Gay Drive.
Financial Implications
Funding for this project has been allocated with Mesquite Quality of Life Corporation (4B) funds.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends the City Manager be authorized to finalize and execute a Professional Engineering Services Contract with Dunaway Associates, LLC.
