Body
This purchase will fund the replacement and upgrade of nine Emergency Communications Center (ECC) call-handling console workstations. These workstations directly support and house the City’s Next Generation 9-1-1 call-handling systems, radio consoles, Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) terminals, and associated 9-1-1 network infrastructure. The funding is provided through Senate Bill 8 (87th Legislature) as part of the State of Texas American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) allocation for the deployment and reliable operations of Next-Generation 911 services statewide.
The upgraded workstations will:
• Provide a reliable platform for multi-screen NG9-1-1 operations.
• Ensure proper housing, power distribution, and cable management for mission-critical equipment.
• Maintain operational continuity by replacing end-of-life console positions.
• Increase system capacity, improve redundancy, and strengthen call-taking efficiency and resiliency.
Financial Implications
Funding is fully secured through the approved Senate Bill 8 - Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund (SB 8 - CSFRF) reimbursement grant.
