Authorize an expenditure in the amount of $51,507.00 to the Mesquite Independent School District for reimbursement of improvements to Range Park and authorize the City Manager to execute payment.
Body
On January 5, 2015, the City executed an agreement to transfer City park property to the Mesquite Independent School District (MISD) in exchange for adjacent MISD property to allow for the expansion of Range Elementary School. The property is located within the boundaries of Bamboo Street, Bahamas Drive and Emerald Drive. The property transferred by MISD to the City was developed into a park and the City agreed to share a portion of the development cost.
The total amount due includes $20,000.00 for lighting the baseball/softball field, $19,025.00 for improvements to the courtyard area and $12,482.00 for park benches. The park was completed in October 2016.
Financial Implications
Funding is available from the Mesquite Quality of Life Corporation.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends City Council approval of the expenditure.
