Financial Implications
This request is for the replacement of all ceramic body armor plates that have been issued to the tactical officers and all uniformed/non-uniformed officers. The current ceramic plates are past their expiration and no longer under warranty by the manufacturer. On May 16, 2022, Seizure Amendment No. 4 to the State Seizure fund budget was approved by City Council. The amendment included a request for ceramic plate replacements in the amount of $200,000.00. The replacement of the plates also includes additional carriers/plates to account for the current and future growth of the department personnel.
