An ordinance revising Ordinance No. 4250 thereby amending the meeting schedule for the Mesquite Housing Board.

The attached Ordinance No. 4250, passed by the City Council on January 22, 2013, provides guidance for the Mesquite Housing Board. The Mesquite Housing Board provides hearings for Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) participants that have been terminated by the Housing Manager for HCV program violations. Staff proposes that Ordinance No. 4250 be amended regarding the organizational structure and operating rules for the Mesquite Housing Board.
The proposed change to the Mesquite Housing Board operating rules as proposed is:
10. That the meetings shall be held on the third Thursday of the month.
For the past several years, as a practice, the Board has met monthly. This routine schedule helps to remove funding in a timely manner for voucher holders that have not met the family obligations of the HCV program. By changing the Housing Board rules in this manner, Council will know that each month, without exception, this Board will meet.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends approval of the ordinance.
