Receive briefing regarding revised options for the Texas Department of Transportation’s Noise Wall Program along IH-635 in Mesquite.

During the Pre-Meeting, staff will provide a follow-up briefing regarding design options for the customized end panels on the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) standardized IH-635 corridor noise wall sections in Mesquite.
Wall sections will be constructed by TxDOT between residential uses and IH-635 in Mesquite to prepare for future roadway modifications. City Council was briefed on January 3, 2017, regarding the opportunity to develop a custom design for eight possible locations of end panels at no cost to the City. The previous design options have been revised incorporating comments from the City Council.
TxDOT is requesting a response from the City by January 20, 2017, to incorporate the customized end panels at no additional cost. They will develop the design option selected by City Council into final artwork which will be submitted to Mesquite for final concurrence before they proceed.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff is seeking City Council’s selection of a design concept to provide to TxDOT.
