Title

Authorize the City Manager to execute a change order to Bid No. 2016-049, 2016 Annual Miscellaneous Concrete Work Project (Section B), with B&B Concrete and Sawing, Inc., in the amount of $157,258.00.

 

Body

City Council approved Bid No. 2016-049 on March 7, 2016, in the amount of $2,513,150.00, for localized concrete repair for street pavement, sidewalks, curb and gutters and curb ramps. Miscellaneous concrete repair is the second step, following pavement lifting, in completing the repair work on the streets identified in the street bond program.

 

This contract was awarded with an option to renew for two additional years. The contractor is in the process of closing out the first year on the contract and would like to renew for an additional year. Per contract provisions, the contractor submitted a request for price increase on several of the bid items due to an increase in concrete and rebar cost in the amount of $157,258.00. Staff has reviewed the price escalation request against other active contracts of similar nature and finds the request to be reasonable.

 

Financial Implications

Funding has been allocated for this project from Street Bond funds

 

Recommended/Desired Action

Staff recommends approval of the change order.
