The Texas Municipal Library Directors Association announced the Mesquite Public Library is the recipient of a 2016 Achievement of Library Excellence Award.
There are 548 public library systems in Texas. Only 43 of those libraries earned this prestigious recognition. The Mesquite Public Library demonstrated excellence in 10 different areas of service to earn the award.
The Mesquite Public Library has continued to provide traditional library services to the community, while expanding its programs and events with a wide variety of new and innovative ideas to promote literacy in Mesquite.
The Mesquite Public Library has also demonstrated their care for the community they serve. The staff has supported various endeavors including the “Back the Blue, Bring a Book” event, which generated 700 book donations in one day for a local back-to-school fair.
