(Authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute a contract with BoundTree Medical, through an Interlocal Cooperative Purchasing Agreement with the City of Cedar Hill, in an amount not to exceed $175,000.00.)
Name of Department
Fire
Project/Budgeted Amount
$175,000.00
Sum of Bid/Bid Amount
$175,000.00
Body
The cost of medical supplies to stock ambulances to properly care for the citizens and visitors to the City of Mesquite has risen substantially over the last several months. The increased costs have made it difficult to project costs and then keep those costs under budgeted amounts. The City of Cedar Hill has an existing contract with BoundTree Medical that has EMS supply costs locked for the duration of the contract. Due to an existing interlocal cooperative purchasing agreement with the City of Cedar Hill, the Mesquite Fire Department desires to enter into the BoundTree Medical EMS supply contract currently in effect with the City of Cedar Hill. There are 69 other EMS agencies participating under the Cedar Hill contract, this collective buying power should give the City of Mesquite better pricing as compared to a standalone contract.
Financial Implications
The City of Cedar Hill’s contract with BoundTree Medical expires February 28, 2018, with the option of three one-year renewals.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends the City Council authorize the City Manager to execute a contract with BoundTree Medical.
