Sum of Bid/Bid Amount

$184,210.15

Body

The Microsoft Enterprise Agreement allows the City of Mesquite to acquire Microsoft Enterprise Software as needed and perform a true-up on an annual basis.  This eliminates the need for ordering software for each new server installation and reduces the amount of paperwork required to track licensing and compliance.  Additionally, the agreement provides training vouchers and support for Microsoft products which allows staff to expand their knowledge on Microsoft’s enterprise products. The Office 365 and Azure licensing is based on the number of employees that require access to the cloud services and the SQL Server licensing is based on the number of servers running the software. Software House International has provided quotes for the maintenance renewals through the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) Contract No. DIR-SDD-2503.

Financial Implications

Funding for this bid is available from the IT Department software budget. The $15,446.15 increase over the budgeted amount was the result of a change in the Windows Data Center Core licensing.  Microsoft moved from a per processor licensing model to a per core licensing model.  The difference will be made up in savings in other IT projects.

Recommended/Desired Action
