The TASER X2’s currently utilized by the Police Department have exceeded the recommended useful lifespan of five years. This purchase will provide 200 new devices with a five-year warranty and a five-year supply of batteries and cartridges for the devices. The devices can help an officer safely control an aggressive or combative suspect, reducing the chance of injury to the officer and the suspect.
Financial Implications
The City Council approved the purchase of the TASER X2’s as a part of Amendment No. 4 to the Fiscal Year 2016-17 Confiscated Seizure Fund budget on March 20, 2017. Funds are available in the Fiscal Year 2016-17 Confiscated Seizure Fund account.
