The Police Department currently has 50 portable alarms, which are placed in businesses where crime trends indicate there is an increased chance of robbery or burglary. These alarms directly notify patrol officers by transmitting activations over the police radio system. These 50 radios will replace the 50 existing units that will not be compatible with the new radio systems.
Financial Implications
The City Council approved the purchase of 50 portable alarm systems as a part of Amendment No. 2 to the Fiscal Year 2016-17 Confiscated Seizure Fund on January 3, 2017. Funds are available in the Fiscal Year 2016-17 Confiscated Seizure Fund budget.
