Body
The current security and access control system for the Mesquite Police building and City Hall is in need of replacement. Many of the servers that run the system have reached their end of life and the proprietary software that runs each side of the system cannot be properly upgraded to allow enhancements to the system.

Changing to a new integrated security system will allow the system to be upgraded and will position the system well for future technology upgrades and improvements. It will allow the City to integrate its security across multiple locations in the future and will address several shortcomings in the current system. The new system will provide better security coverage for the interior and exterior of the buildings and the citizen exchange zone. It will also allow better communication between the jail control room and individual cells within the facility.

During this change, the cameras in the police interview rooms will be converted to Watch Guard video cameras, which will allow the interview evidence to be stored on the same server, in the same format, as the in-car and body camera video evidence. This will streamline the collection and presentation of evidence to the District Attorney's Office and increase the efficiency of the Investigations Bureau.
