A resolution calling a special City Council meeting for Monday, October 23, 2017, and setting dates, times and places for public hearings on the proposed annexation of certain property in the extraterritorial jurisdiction.

Chapter 43 of the Texas Local Government Code requires the City Council to conduct two public hearings at which persons interested in the proposed annexation are given the opportunity to be heard. Article II, Section 2 of the City Charter also requires a public hearing prior to annexation. The Chapter 43 hearings must be held 20-40 days prior to adopting the annexation ordinance, whereas the Charter hearing must be held 10-20 days prior to adoption.
The proposed resolution calls a special City Council meeting for Monday, October 23, 2017, and establishes the dates, times and places for conducting all the public hearings. The time and place of the second public hearing is subject to change in the event more than 10 percent of the adult residents of an annexation area file a written protest with the City Secretary within 10 days after the date of publication of notice.
