Staff recommends the purchase of one pumper truck equipped with a fully enclosed cab, a 1,500 gallon per minute (GPM) pump, a 500-gallon water tank and ladders. Spartan Emergency Response Vehicles (Spartan ERV) is the pumper manufacturer and is represented by Metro Fire Apparatus Specialists, Inc., of Houston, Texas.

 

The department’s current fleet includes 10 pumpers manufactured by Crimson Fire, known as Spartan ERV since 2012. The Fire Department’s apparatus Committee recommends the purchase of Spartan ERV based on its performance.

 

Unit 33, purchased in 1998, is scheduled for replacement in compliance with the department’s Apparatus Replacement Program. 

 

Financial Implications

The purchase of the pumper was approved in the Fiscal Year 2017-18 budget.  A portion of the balance of the budgeted amount will be used to buy loose equipment, radios and mount the Mobile Data Computer and tools not included in this bid.

Staff recommends award to Spartan ERV.
