Body
The City Council approved the original construction contract with Rebcon, Inc., on November 7, 2016, for the reconstruction of the water, sanitary sewer, drainage and pavement infrastructure along Gus Thomasson Road associated with the Thomasson Square Sustainable Development Project. The current contract amount is $9,861,035.97. The 550-calendar day construction contract received the notice to proceed March 1, 2017, with Phase 1 scheduled for completion in March 2018 and Phase 2 to be completed in September 2018.

On June 5, 2017, the City Council directed staff to schedule an amendment to the engineering contract with Brown & Gay Engineers, Inc., for the redesign of the Gus Thomasson Road Project to provide for the deletion of the roundabouts at Karla Drive and Moon/Whitson Drives with Gus Thomasson Road.

The City Council has directed staff to negotiate a change order to the construction contract with Rebcon, Inc., for the design changes to the water, sanitary sewer, drainage and pavement improvements. Change Order No. 1 action will authorize the City Manager to execute a change order with Rebcon, Inc., for $997,367.22. Upon approval of the change order, a notice to proceed will be issued on January 17, 2018. Remobilization is anticipated at the end of January 2018. Due to the redesign and changes directed by Council, the project is scheduled to be completed in July 2019. However, it is estimated that the western roadway section will be open to traffic July 2018 and the eastern roadway open to traffic March 2019.
