Authorize an expenditure in the amount of $139,302.17 to the Mesquite Independent School District for reimbursement of improvements to Florence Park and authorize the City Manager to execute payment.
Body
On December 7, 2015, the City Council approved an agreement to transfer City park property to the Mesquite Independent School District (MISD) in exchange for adjacent MISD property to allow for the construction of the new Florence Elementary School at Ashwood Drive. The property is located within the boundaries of Gleneagle Street, Whitson Way and Ashwood Drive. The property transferred by MISD to the City was developed into a park and the City agreed to reimburse MISD for City requested park improvement items.
Improvements consist of $95,806.87 for a new concrete parking lot, $4,014.30 for resurfacing of an existing asphalt parking lot, $7,173.00 for parking lot lighting, $6,300.00 for football/soccer goalposts and $26,008.00 for landscaping /irrigation enhancements. Construction of the new park was completed in December 2017.
Financial Implications
Funding is available from the Mesquite Quality of Life Corporation.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends City Council approval of the expenditure.
