The City's fleet work order system is inadequate and does not provide proper fleet asset cost and shop management information. The Faster Asset Solutions (Faster) software enables staff to effectively manage fleet assets and determine operational cost of fleet assets. The Faster software will also allow tracking of repair and maintenance shop activities, schedules and turnaround time for vehicle repair, and efficiency of shop mechanics and personnel.
A 2017 City Council Goal is to "Evaluate existing maintenance practices to maximize the efficient and effective useful life of City assets." The purchase and implementation of the Faster software will provide staff the tools to fulfill this City Council goal as it relates to fleet and equipment assets. Staff anticipates full implementation within six months of project kickoff.
Area municipalities that currently use the Faster software include City of Plano, City of Denton, City of Fort Worth, City of Farmers Branch, City of Grapevine, City of Hurst, City of Irving and City of Lewisville. The Manager of Equipment Services has over 10 years' experience with the Faster software during his employment with the City of Plano.
The Faster software contract includes the following features and modules: Software License with unlimited user access, Project Management, Work Order Module, Asset Module, Motor Pool Module, Parts Inventory Module, Fuel Data Import, Custom Munis Billing Export, Data Conversion and Testing, On-Site Go Live Training and the first year's annual software maintenance and support in the amount of $18,948.00.
