In 2016, a Master Plan of improvements for Camp Rorie Galloway was developed. Improvements would be implemented in phases based on availability of funds and favorable pricing. Phase One was completed in June 2017 and included the construction of a basketball court and an artificial turf volleyball court. Phase Two will replace the wood frame picnic pavilion, which was demolished in 2016 due to deterioration, and will be completed before summer camp begins. As funds become available, future phases include the addition of a park office, outdoor fireplace and enhancements to the surrounding area.

Bid documents were broadcast through the BidSync electronic bidding system, posted on the City’s website and advertised in the Daily Commercial Record newspaper. The project included a new 3,000-square-foot pre-engineered pavilion and a 760-square-foot factory-built park office with associated site preparation and utility connections. Only two bids were received and both were significantly more than the available project budget.

After careful review, the bids were determined to be unacceptable. To work within the available funds, the project was revised and a different implementation strategy was identified.
