Title

A resolution authorizing the sale of five tax-foreclosed properties located at 3545 Antilles Drive, 4700 Harper Drive, 2717 Oates Drive, 4601 San Marcos Avenue and 4528 Sherwood Drive in Mesquite, Texas, ratifying and approving offer and purchase agreements and authorizing the City Manager to execute quitclaim deeds and all other documents necessary to complete the closing and sale of the properties.

 

Body

A list of tax-foreclosure properties is posted on the City’s website. The City received offers on five tax-foreclosed properties which are vacant lots. Tax Code §34.05(j) applied to all five offers. A sale under this code discharges and extinguishes all liens foreclosed by the judgment and all post-judgment taxes, penalties and interest, except for prorated taxes for the year of closing, and requires the consent of all taxing units entitled to proceeds of the sale.

 

Mesquite Independent School District’s Board of Trustees consented to the sale of 4700 Harper Drive and 2717 Oates Drive on December 17, 2017, and the sale of 3545 Antilles Drive, 4601 San Marcos Avenue and 4528 Sherwood Drive on February 12, 2018.

 

Dallas County Commissioners Court consented to the sale of 3545 Antilles Drive, 4601 San Marcos Avenue and 4528 Sherwood Drive with the passage of Court Order 2018-0164 on February 6, 2018, and the sale of 4700 Harper Drive and 2717 Oates Drive with the passage of Court Order 2018-0234 on February 20, 2018.

 

Recommended/Desired Action

Staff recommends Council approval of the resolution.
