Title

Authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute an affiliation agreement with the Mesquite Independent School District (MISD) allowing MISD Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) students education and training opportunities with the Mesquite Fire Department. 

Body

The Mesquite Independent School District (MISD) has submitted a request to the Mesquite Fire Department (MFD) to host MISD’s Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) students by allowing them to complete their required State of Texas ambulance ride outs with the MFD. The students are in their senior year of high school and are enrolled in the District’s Career and Technical Education Program (CTE). The MISD’s CTE program includes 14 career clusters. The students completing their EMT education are enrolled in the Health Science program.

Recommended/Desired Action

Staff recommends that the City Manager be authorized to finalize and execute an affiliation agreement with MISD.
