An ordinance amending Chapter 9 of the City Code regarding the location of school zones by extending an existing school zone for Pirrung Elementary School along Creek Crossing Road.
Body
The purpose of a school zone is to allow children to safely cross a street at a marked crossing. Staff proposes extending the existing school zone for Pirrung Elementary School located on Creek Crossing Road. Traffic studies by staff indicated a number of students crossing outside the existing school zone. The proposed extension would include the intersections of Creek Crossing Road with Villa Siete and Woodthorpe Drives.
Financial Implications
Funding for signs and markings for the school zone extension is included in the Traffic Engineering’s operations budget.
Recommendations/desired action
Staff recommends approval of the ordinance.
