Title
Conduct a public hearing and consider an ordinance amending the Mesquite Thoroughfare Plan.
Body
The purpose of a Thoroughfare Plan is to reflect the long-term transportation infrastructure requirements of the City by identifying the location and type of roadway facilities needed to meet projected growth. The City originally adopted the Thoroughfare Plan in 1985 by resolution and has since made amendments to reflect the changing transportation needs of the City. The City uses the Thoroughfare Plan to preserve future corridors for transportation use. The last review and amendment to the City of Mesquite Thoroughfare Plan occurred in November 2005.
Staff has compiled 13 proposed modifications to the Thoroughfare Plan. The proposed amended segments are highlighted in the attached exhibit and are listed with justification for proposed change in the attached table.
A final proposed Thoroughfare Plan is included to show what the Thoroughfare Plan will look like if all proposed amendments are accepted.
A public hearing was held at the April 9, 2018, Planning and Zoning Commission meeting and the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of the proposed changes.
Recommended/Desired Action
After the public hearing, staff recommends approval of the ordinance.
