Conduct a public hearing and consider an ordinance for Application No. Z0318-0028, submitted by Les Pritchett of Urban Air Mesquite, for a change of zoning from General Retail to Light Commercial with a Conditional Use Permit to allow an indoor recreational facility, located at 1220 North Town East Boulevard, Suite 650.
(No responses in favor or opposition to the application have been received from property owners within the statutory notification area. The Planning and Zoning Commission recommends approval of rezoning from General Retail to Planned Development-General Retail with a Conditional Use Permit to allow an indoor recreational facility with certain stipulations.)
Body
The applicant plans to open an indoor trampoline park that would include a variety of recreational activities such as trampolines, a ninja warrior course, climbing walls and laser tag. Staff proposes rezoning the property to Planned Development-General Retail, which would be more appropriate than Light Commercial for the area.
On April 9, 2018, the Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously to approve Application No. Z0318-0028, for a rezoning from General Retail to Planned Development-General Retail with a Conditional Use Permit to allow an indoor recreation use.
Recommended/Desired Action
After the public hearing, staff recommends approval of the proposed ordinance.
