As set forth in plans and specifications, this project is designed to include the construction of approximately 1,628 linear feet of an 8-foot-tall precast long-span decorative concrete screening wall and small area of concrete sidewalk and other improvements on the IH 635 corridor and New Market Road. On March 3, 2018, the City Council rejected all bids on an earlier version of the project. Between March and May of 2018, staff conducted a value engineering analysis to reduce project costs and bring the project within budget.
Bid notices were broadcast through the BidSync electronic bidding system, published in the Daily Commercial Record newspaper and posted on the City’s website. Six competitive bids were received and opened on May 1, 2018.
The City’s design consultant for this project, Binkley & Barfield Consulting Engineers, has reviewed references and other qualification information submitted by the low bidder and recommends award of the base bid to Joel Brown & Co., LLC.
Financial Implications
Funding for the project is budgeted from CO Bonds.
