The IT Department schedules the enterprise servers and backup storage to be replaced every five years. The four enterprise servers support the Public Safety and General Government virtual server infrastructure of over 150 virtual servers. Server virtualization continues to save the City a large amount of money each year by allowing the IT Department to quickly create resources for new projects without needing to procure new expensive server infrastructure. The backup storage is used to backup the virtual machine infrastructure and replicate the backup files offsite.
Financial Implications
Funding is available in the Fiscal Year 2017-18 operating budget.
