(The Planning and Zoning Commission recommends approval of the zoning text amendment.)
Body
On July 9, 2018, the Planning and Zoning Commission voted to recommend approval of Zoning Text Amendment No. 2018-05 by a vote of 6-0.
Several conditional use permits have been approved for indoor recreation uses in recent months. Some of these types of activities are becoming more and more prevalent as users of vacated retail spaces. As a result, staff is proposing some amendments related to indoor recreation that would allow a new classification of uses to be permitted by right. The new use, “Recreational and Entertainment Facilities”, would permit by right indoor nonprofessional, athletic activities such as bounce houses, trampoline parks and skating rinks. It would not include other indoor activities such as arcades and indoor shooting ranges.
Recommended/Desired Action
After the public hearing, staff recommends approval of the ordinance.
