An ordinance amending Chapter 5 of the City Code amending regulations addressing the construction and standards for fences.
Body
City Code Section 5-144 has provisions for use of barbed wire in fencing, but it is very permissive and lacks clarity. The proposed ordinance would narrow the locations where barbed wire would be permitted and cleans up some language that is unclear.
The amendments would reduce the allowed locations for barbed wire fencing, restricting it to industrial areas, commercial areas with authorized outdoor storage, areas where livestock are kept and circumstances where required by State or Federal regulations.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends approval of the ordinance.
