The KidsQuest playground at DeBusk Park is an all-wood structure that was constructed in 1994 with the assistance of community members. The estimated lifespan of the structure, with proper care and maintenance, was 25 years.  That projection has been accurate, as the playground is now showing signs of deterioration and several areas have been closed due to safety hazards. The current project timeline estimates completion for October of 2019, exactly 25 years after the original build.

Design Services are required for replacement and will include a new, updated playground, construction of an additional parking lot, and renovation of the existing picnic pavilion.  To engage the community, and help instill a unique sense of pride for the playground, the scope of work will

once again require community involvement.

Bid notices were broadcast through the BidSync electronic bidding system, published in the Daily Commercial Record newspaper and posted on the City’s website. Qualifications were received from four consultants and proposals were evaluated using best value selection criteria. La Terra Studio, Inc., received the highest score and they submitted a fee proposal that was less than the budgeted amount for these services.
