This project will replace the waterline on Summit Street from Crest Park Drive to Lee Street and replace the waterline on Royal Crest Drive from Summit Street to Willowbrook Drive. The project will utilize a method called ‘Pre-chlorinated Pipe Bursting’ to replace the waterline. This will involve constructing the waterline above ground, chlorinating, disinfecting and pressure testing prior to installation and then pulling the new water main through the old main underground. The method will provide minimum disruption to residents’ water service and minimal disruption to the road, driveways and lawns.
Bid notices were broadcast through the BidSync electronic bidding system, posted on the City’s website and an Advertisement for Bid was published in the Daily Commercial Record newspaper. A total of two responsive bids were received. Construction should begin Fall 2018. City staff has reviewed references and other qualification information submitted by the low bidder and recommends award of the base bid to Murphy Pipeline Contractors, Inc.
Financial Implications
Funding for this contract is budgeted under the Water Main Replacement Program and funded through Water and Sewer Revenue funds.
