An ordinance authorizing and allowing, under the Act governing the Texas Municipal Retirement System, “Updated Service Credits” in said system on an annual basis for service performed by qualifying members of such system who, at the effective date of the allowance, are members of the City of Mesquite, effective January 1, 2019.
Body
The City of Mesquite is a member of the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) and has historically elected to provide ad hoc benefits on a year-to-year consideration for Updated Service Credits (USC) to eligible members.
By way of this ordinance, the City of Mesquite is authorizing TMRS to change the USC provision to an annual repeating benefit as defined and required by the Act governing TMRS, effective January 1, 2019.

Staff recommends approval of the ordinance.
