Conduct a public hearing and consider an ordinance for Application No. Z0918-0064, submitted by WRA Architects on behalf of Mesquite Independent School District, for a change of zoning from Planned Development-Single Family Residential to Planned Development-Single Family Residential with a Conditional Use Permit to allow a middle school, located at 101 Holloman Road.
(No responses in favor or opposition to the application have been received from property owners within the statutory notification area. The Planning and Zoning Commission recommends approval of the application with certain stipulations.)
Body
The applicant proposes construction of a new middle school on the subject property. A Traffic Impact Analysis has been completed and the findings accepted by the City’s Traffic Engineering Division. Initial enrollment is anticipated to be 1,200 students.
On October 22, 2018, the Planning and Zoning Commission voted 5 to 0 to approve Application No. Z0918-0064, for a rezoning from Planned Development-Single Family Residential to Planned Development-Single Family Residential with a Conditional Use Permit to allow a middle school with certain conditions.
Recommended/Desired Action
After the public hearing, staff recommends approval of the proposed ordinance.
