Title: A. Title

The City park property to be transferred to MISD is 44.097 acres of land, generally described as located in the John P. Anderson Survey, Abstract No. 1, Mesquite, Dallas County, Texas, and being a part of the property commonly known as 4200 Faithon P. Lucas Sr. Boulevard in the City of Mesquite, Dallas County, Texas (the Property).

B. Consider a resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a Contract for Sale of Real Property with the MISD and all other documents necessary to convey the property to the MISD.

Body
The Mesquite Independent School District (MISD) is requesting the sale of the above mentioned property for the construction of a new Choice High School. The Property conveyance will allow MISD to build a new school facility to meet the needs of the growing enrollment.

The public hearing is being held to meet the notice and hearing provisions as required in Chapter 26 of the Parks and Wildlife Code. A notice of the public hearing was published in the Dallas Morning News on Thursday, October 11, 2018, and subsequent public hearing notices were published Thursday, October 18, 2018, and Thursday, October 25, 2018.

Staff solicited an independent market appraisal of the Property. The valuation of the Property was $22,000 per acre, resulting in a price of $968,000 for the 44.097 acres of land to be sold to MISD. MISD and the City agreed on the valuation of the Property.

Following the public hearing, staff recommends that the City Council approve the attached resolution (which includes the Contract for Sale as an exhibit) and authorize the City Manager to execute the necessary documents to convey the Property to MISD, all as more particularly set forth in the Contract for Sale of Real Pr...
