Authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute a change order with Oldcastle Materials Texas, Inc., dba TexasBit, for additional asphalt materials in the amount of $12,000.00.

From October 6, 2014, to October 5, 2017, the City of Mesquite was a purchasing participant in the Dallas County Road and Bridge Material contract. This agreement was extended by Dallas County for an additional year. After notification that the contract would terminate on September 30, 2018, City staff initiated a “Stop Gap” requisition in the amount of $48,000.00 to Oldcastle Materials Texas, Inc., dba Texas Bit, through TxSmartBuy Contract No. 748-N1. The requisition allowed the City to purchase asphalt so that work could continue while preparing the specifications necessary to purchase asphalt materials via competitive bid. During that time, interim repairs were needed on Skyline Drive. Those repairs created an overage of the requisition by $5,550.00. This change order will fund the overage as well as provide for limited asphalt repairs until the annual bid is executed.
Financial Implications
Funds are available in the Fiscal Year 2018-19 budget.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends approval of the change order.
