Authorize the City Manager to negotiate, finalize and execute an agreement for the donation to the City of the property located at 300 West Cartwright Road, Mesquite, Texas, and, if the title and condition of such property is acceptable to the City Manager, the City Manager is further authorized to accept the donation of such property on behalf of the City and execute all closing documents necessary or advisable to finalize the donation of such property to the City.

Mr. Al Sani, the owner of an undeveloped 3.2605-acre commercial (planned development) tract of land addressed to 300 West Cartwright Road, has offered to donate the property to the City without condition. Mr. Sani wishes to donate this parcel to the City because there is a City trail existing on the property (built over 30 years ago). The property is adjacent to open space that the City owns.
The 2018 certified Dallas Central Appraisal District value of the property is $8,150.00 and generates $184.00 in City and MISD property tax revenue annually. If accepted, the total cost to the City would be approximately $900.00 in one-time closing costs. Since the City is currently maintaining the property, no additional funds are needed for annual maintenance.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends Council accept the donation of the property and authorize the City Manager to execute the property transaction subject to clear title, payment of all taxes and absent of any liens.
