Title

Authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute Supplemental Agreement No. 1 to Bid No. 2017-097, Integrated Security System for Police and City Hall, with Convergint Technologies, LLC, in the amount of $90,833.21, and authorize the purchase of related computer, hardware and networking equipment to SHI Government Solutions in the amount of $12,442.00 and the purchase of two microphones from Amazon in the amount of $200.00, for a total amount of $103,475.21.

Body

The City of Mesquite entered into an agreement with Convergint Technologies in May 2017 for the purchase of video management and access control systems for the Police and City Hall buildings. The original contract was created with the anticipation of repurposing a large percentage of the camera hardware already in place. Unfortunately, many of the cameras are approximately 10 years old and are not compatible with the new system and cannot be used. The supplemental agreement with Convergint for $90,833.21 will allow the purchase of additional camera hardware for both buildings and the jail and will improve building security and access control. Additional networking equipment to be purchased from SHI Government Solutions for $12,442.00 is required to optimize the access control and security system. The additional microphones to be purchased from Amazon for $200.00 will facilitate communication between the jail control room and jail cells.

Financial Implications

This purchase will be funded by 2011 CO Bonds.

Recommended/Desired Action

Staff recommends that Council authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement and authorize the purchase of related equipment.
