Authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute a contract with the Federal Aviation Administration for the continued operation and funding of the air traffic control tower at Mesquite Metro Airport.

The City of Mesquite has participated in the contract tower program through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) since 2013. This program consists of 258 airports across the country who receive funding from the FAA in order to staff the control towers at their facility. By participating in this program, the City of Mesquite is agreeing to maintain the control tower in exchange for support in the form of funding from the FAA. On average, this program provides $500,000.00 annually for the professional staffing of the control tower, which would otherwise have to be funded by the airport sponsor.
