Title

Authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute Amendment No. 3 with Binkley & Barfield, Inc., for shop drawings, calculations and additional efforts associated with the development of the Screening Wall Replacement Project 2016 in the amount of $5,000.00.

Body

As part of the City’s plan to replace deteriorated brick masonry screening walls throughout the City, the City Manager approved an engineering design contract for the Screening Wall Replacement Project in the amount of $35,150.00 on May 11, 2016. The contract included the development of plans and specifications for the replacement of the screening wall along IH635 south of New Market Drive. The City Manager approved Amendment No. 1 for additional wall segment design, tree list to be removed/trimmed, and to incorporate a concrete swale/outfall design in the amount of $7,000.00 on September 22, 2017. The City Manager approved Amendment No. 2 for repackaging and re-bidding the project, in the amount of $5,500.00 on March 20, 2018. Since approval of Amendment No. 2, the project has been awarded for construction. Prior to construction, the awarded Contractor submitted shop drawings for approval, which were reviewed by the Consulting Engineer. The amount of work needed for review and approval far exceeded the anticipated level of effort.

The construction contract was issued a notice to proceed on January 14, 2019 and should be completed summer 2019.
