A resolution in support of a complete census count for the 2020 decennial census and establishment of a Complete Count Committee.
Body
At the April 1, 2019, City Council meeting staff briefed the Council on the 2020 census and the benefits of a Complete Count Committee. The Committee, comprised of citizens and community leaders, will work to educate the public about participating in the census and provide opportunities for citizens to complete the census forms.
Staff suggests each of the following be represented on the Complete Count Committee:
City Council
Mesquite ISD Board
Mesquite ISD Staff
Planning and Zoning Commission
LULAC
NAACP
Mesquite Social Services
Sharing Life
Mesquite Ministerial Alliance
Eastfield College
Neighborhoods (3-5 individuals)
The committee will be supported by the Planning and Development Services and Communications and Marketing Departments.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends approval of the resolution.
