The City's Print Shop division is responsible for creating and re-producing mass printing jobs such as the Mainstream, warrant notices, tax statements, code notices, City business cards, posters, advertisements and various other print jobs for all City Departments.
The current lease is through a cooperative purchasing agreement with the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR). Color and black/white impression pricing was offered to the City at a considerably lower cost than the standard DIR cooperative pricing at the time the contract began. This same print impression pricing has been offered again for a new lease agreement that would include a new machine, the Konica C3080.
The proposal received from Konica Minolta is for a monthly lease and maintenance amount of $7,980.00 that will be billed quarterly. The maintenance includes 210,000 color prints, service, parts, labor and consumables. The overage costs are $.038 for color impressions and $.007 for black/white impressions that will also be billed quarterly. Staff estimates that a total of 90,000 impressions will be made per month (82,000 for the Mainstream and 8,000 for other print jobs). The total monthly cost for lease, maintenance and printing overages is estimated to be $5,377.00 with a total annual cost of $64,524.00.
