This bid is to assess existing large water valves on critical large diameter water mains with the purpose to identify valves that are not operational so that repairs can be scheduled and completed prior to future emergency situations where the valves are needed. This is a proactive step in the City’s infrastructure management plan and is critical to ensure that City water infrastructure is fully functional so that emergency shutdowns of large diameter mains can be made quickly and affecting the fewest possible customers.
Bid notices were broadcast through the BidSync electronic bidding system, posted on the City’s website and an Advertisement for Bid was published in the Daily Commercial Record newspaper. A total of one responsive bid was received. However, the bid was significantly over project budget.

Staff recommends all bids be rejected.
