Body
On October 16, 2017, the City Council approved a Professional Engineering Services Contract with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc., for the survey, engineering design and preparation of bidding and construction documents for the construction of a pump station, ground storage tank and large diameter water transmission main to provide water service to tracts of land within Kaufman County in the amount of $1,858,600.00.

During the design phase, it has been determined that additional services are required related to obtaining a wetlands (404) permit from the United States Army Corps of Engineers. Specifically, an archeological study is necessary to obtain a Texas Antiquities Permit necessary for the wetland permit. Additional services covered by this contract amendment is platting of the future pump station site and design of rock maintenance road and bridge within the floodplain of the East Fork of the Trinity River for construction and future maintenance of the large diameter water transmission main.

The project will be bid in two separate contracts: 1) The pump station and ground storage tank with associated facilities and 2) The large diameter water transmission main. Both phases will be bid during the summer of 2019.

Financial Implications
The Water and Sewer Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) has funding allocated for the design and construction of the pump station, ground storage tank and large diameter water transmission main to provide water service to tracts of land within Kaufman County. The amount of the contract amendment is $92,900.00.
