Authorize the City Manager to finalize and execute Amendment No. 2 to a contract with Binkley & Barfield, Inc., for additional design and preparation of construction documents for the 2017 Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project - Phase 2, in the amount of $141,000.00.

On April 17, 2017, City Council approved a contract for the preparation of construction plans and specifications for the 2017 Sanitary Sewer Project - Phase 2 in the amount of $286,950.00. Amendment No. 1, approved by the City Manager on October 25, 2017, included additional design and construction document preparation for the Viva Drive sanitary sewer replacement in the amount of $24,900.00.
Amendment No. 2 will include additional services to provide construction plans and specifications for additional limits of sanitary sewer replacement to address known sanitary sewer overflow issues at manholes near Majors Drive and Riggs Circle. The additional limits added to the contract will include sanitary sewer replacement for Majors Drive, Riggs Circle, Tosch Lane, and a portion of Lakeview Drive, extending across New Market Road and terminating at Newport Drive.
Financial Implications
Funding is allocated each year in the annual Capital Improvement Plan for sanitary sewer rehabilitation projects. This fund has adequate reserves to fund this design amendment and associated sanitary sewer replacement.
Recommended/Desired Action
Staff recommends the City Manager be authorized to execute Amendment No. 2 with Binkley & Barfield, Inc.
