Title: Authorize the purchase of an approximately 0.1524-acre tract of land commonly known as 210 N. Carmack Street, Mesquite, Texas (the "Property") from Joe Jack Cruce ("Seller") for drainage purposes in connection with the City's Downtown Front Street Station Project for a purchase price not exceeding $5,000, plus survey fees, title policy fees, other related closing costs and taxes for the year 2019 for a cumulative total not exceeding $9,500, authorizing the City Manager to finalize and execute a contract with the Seller to purchase the Property and authorizing the City Manager to take all other actions and execute all other documents necessary or advisable to complete the closing and purchase of the Property.

Authorize the purchase of an approximately 0.1524-acre tract of land commonly known as 210 N. Carmack Street, Mesquite, Texas (the “Property”) from Joe Jack Cruce (“Seller”) for drainage purposes in connection with the City’s Downtown Front Street Station Project for a purchase price not exceeding $5,000, plus survey fees, title policy fees, other related closing costs and taxes for the year 2019 for a cumulative total not exceeding $9,500, authorizing the City Manager to finalize and execute a contract with the Seller to purchase the Property and authorizing the City Manager to take all other actions and execute all other documents necessary or advisable to complete the closing and purchase of the Property.

 

Body

On July 15, 2019, the City Council approved a construction contract with DDM Construction for the Front Street Station project. This project consists of roadway, utility, pedestrian and drainage improvements between Galloway and Ebrite Streets. The drainage outfall for this area of downtown infrastructure is at a stream located on subject parcel at 210 N. Carmack Street. In order to complete construction of the Front Street Station and its drainage improvements, the site necessary for the construction of the drainage outfall is required.

 

Recommended/Desired Action

Staff recommends approval to purchase subject parcel.
