This project will construct a new five-foot wide sidewalk along Scyene Road from Rollingwood Drive to Peachtree Road and on Peachtree Road from Scyene Road to Military Parkway. There will also be reconstruction of a 20-foot section of four-foot wide sidewalk and construction of a four-foot section of sidewalk to connect to existing sidewalk. This sidewalk improvement project will benefit students who walk to the newly constructed Frasier Middle School and West Mesquite High School.

 

Bid notices were broadcast through the BidSync electronic bidding system, published in the Daily Commercial Record newspaper and posted on the City’s website. Four competitive bids were received and opened on July 11, 2018.

 

The City’s engineering staff has reviewed references and other qualification information submitted by the low bidder.

 

Financial Implications

Funding for the project is from CDBG grant funding.

 

Recommended/Desired Action

Staff recommends award of Base Bid and Bid Alternate A to low bidder Michael D. Boyd Sr., dba Overall Concrete Solutions in the amount of $226,369.10.
